These are some shots I took at my city tour with my adventure buddy, Weichong, who cycles around because he wants to save money, while i take the bus myself. Firstly, we met at the cultural centre busway station and visited the museum.
Then we walked to South Bank, which is quite a distance from the museum. Furthermore, it was 33 degree celsius! After that, we walked to the city and wandered around before ending up at the City Botanic Garden.
By the time we walked back to the city area, my feet were already having blisters and it was almost 6pm! (the friendship bash at June’s place starts at 6.30pm.) I gave up on the plan to walk from the city to her place. So, i took the bus to her house while WC cycled there. Waha!
…After the bash, i washed up at her place and at around 12am, the lifegroup set off on 3 cars to Byron Bay, New South Wales!
Cooling Night->Sunrise->Morning->Scorching Hot Noon
After which, we went to Harbourtown at Gold Coast. It was around 11am when we reached, and it was really really burning HOT! The highest temperature that day went up to 40.1 degree celsius!!! GOSH!!! Anyways, when i reached home, i slept like a log on my bed, Nicholas’ usual noise didn’t manage to wake me up at all. (PS: Nicholas’ wail can be really VERY LOUD!)
fuifui: Nice scenery and all but i still miss home. (:
I still can’t find the time to update the photos on my blog, especially with the kids always running into my room and hopping around. Hannah loves to show me her dance movements. She does cartwheel, somersault and handstand on my bed whenever she’s about to leave my room. Nicholas loves to play around with my stuffs especially the new printer that i bought and now i have to shift the printer to somewhere beyond his reach. Josh is better, he just comes into the room and chats with me. This is a noisy household but i love kids, so it’s okay. But maybe when i start doing my assigments, it might get me. Alrighty, fuifui study hard!
HOT Summer!
February 23, 2008
It’s 36 degree celsius in Brisbane right now!!! Gone are the cooling breeze throughout the summer and here comes the heat waves travelling across the whole of Queensland! *really scorching hot!!!* The heat waves are so bad that we had to shut up the windows and doors so that we feel much cooler in the house. But still, i feel like i am in a sauna right now. And i am sunburn due to overexposure of sunlight since yesterday noon when i went city tour till now- just came back home from Byron Bay and Gold Coast. I have more picture updates coming up soon! (:
*count down: 1 more day and the bell strikes for school semester to start!*

Sorry for not blogging as much, especially Crist who has requested for more blog entries… I have been going to school throughout the week for orientation sessions and went for the Market Day at school too! And just exploring places around here and making full use of the time before school starts, and i’ll get really busy then! All you students out there, study hard and smart alrights? And play hard too! You can have all the fun you want, if you listen attentively in class and do your own revision at home! We can all lead a balanced life- excelling in every area of our lives..alrights fuifui stop being so naggy..Tomorrow’s a happening day for me… going for a city tour, then to a bash at June’s place, organised by the lifegroup and then we’ll head off to a 3 hours ride to cross over to New South Wales state, to the tip of Sydney! Just wandering around before school starts…

I took the bus alone down to the city to meet June. We shopped around the city and had lunch at a korean restaurant. I don’t know what dish i ate but it’s some yummy spicy teppanyaki beef! So yummy! (: Next, she said the soft serve ice-cream here taste more yummy than those in Singapore. So i grabbed one from Hungry Jack’s and it cost only A$0.50! Really yummylicious! And then we took the city cat from the city to get to the University of Queensland. City Cat runs along the Brisbane River, and they are the fastest and funnest way to get around the riverside areas of Brisbane CBD. They are exceptionally quick, stable and don’t get caught in traffic jams and the view is also better than what you see from the car windscreen.
[sorry if the pictures are too small, just click on it for a better view (: ]
I went to get my Student ID card from school which gives a 50% discount on bus trips! But, June and I had a really hard time finding the place where they issue ID cards. Then i went over to June’s place for a while and chatted with her housemates. At 6pm, we walked up the slope and down again to Ivy’s house for lifegroup. Everything ended at 10pm, and the lifegroup leader offered to drive me back. Thank God for that, if not i don’t know how i am going to get back to where i stay, at that kind of time here in Brissie!
*fuifui: Thankful for nice people around me*
Love is in the air…
February 15, 2008
It’s Valentine’s Day! But doesn’t feel like one for me…seriously! Andrea took me to take the bus from where we stay to the University of Queensland. The distance is ok, at least bearable! One thing different about the buses over here is that we only buy the bus ticket when we board the bus and we’ll just say this to the bus captain: “Can I have a transfer ticket to the Uni of Qld, please?”. We give him the money, and we still do get the change back! Imagine during the peak hours, we’ve got to wait really long for people to queue and get the tickets from the bus captains!
We toured around at the university, and guess what! i met Sharon at the CCM (Campus Christian Movement) booth! Pretty cool! Finally, saw lots of Singaporeans around! I am sure i am going to blog more about CCM soon, because i am gonna join them! And they organised this daytrip to Gold Coast on one of the saturdays in March! *woots*
I am still adapting well to the lifestyle here, and it’s getting a little boring actually by the days. Good thing, one of the members from CCM is going to show me around in the city tomorrow and I’ll be joining them for lifegroup ( it’s like a cellgroup) after that! Hurray! But it’s going to end a little late and i have no idea how to get back home from that place! Solution 1: I am gonna bunk in with them for the night! Solution 2: Someone’s gotta drive me back home!
*fuifui: excited for tommorrow!* Happy Valentine’s Day fuifui -pats my own head-
2nd day @ Brisbane
February 13, 2008
I had a really good rest today. I woke up at 10am (Brisbane time), and there were some Australian friends of Andrea who came over to have a bible study group. It ended at around 12pm and so Andrea didn’t take me to take the bus instead. She drove lil Nicholas and I to Indooroopilly Shopping Centre (just 20minutes drive from where we live) where i got myself an Optus line. And Andrea took me to the library to obtain a library card, we met a kind soul there who helped us with the administration matters for the card. There are basically everything in the mall, especially when there’s Kmart and Woolworths there + a huge movie theatre! *beams* We had Katsu Don for lunch and after which, she drove me to my university to have a look. Then, we went to Pullenvale to get Jos and Hannah from school.
I went out of the house to take a stroll along the road. These are a few pictures of where i stay.
From the bright sky to the gloomy sky! I saw a rainbow as i walked down the slopey road! And the feeling of the breeze that wraps you…feels great! (: Had dinner with Ron and family again at the dining table and he said grace for it..pretty cool! And we even had mango slices with ice-cream for dessert. yums yums (: The dinner wasn’t the solemn kind, i had loads of fun with the kids. They were telling jokes and playing some kind of ‘quiet’ game (whoever talks or laughs first will have to run round the house 3 times).. Alright, i lost because they were all too hilarous and i burst out laughing! (of course, i am not so insane to run round the house too)
I forgot to blog about the gifts i received…
Thank you for all the gifts! and i love the Nokia 6500 Classic! *hops for joy* Thank you W408 for the mobile phone!!!!!!! I am loving it! THANK YOU! ((: *doing triple somersaults in my spirit* woots! And received lotsa books and stuffs for my QT! Awesome!
*fuifui misses lil ‘niuniu’. Wahaha!*
1st Day @ Queensland, Sunshine State
February 12, 2008
The plane touched down at 630am Brisbane time, got through immigration and customs and was done by 7.10am. Then, i waited for Ron at the airport until about 8am. It was pouring the whole morning here, and he said that it’s rather unusual in Brisbane because usually the weather will be sunny and spectacular. The traffic jam is pretty bad here, managed to reach his place in an hour and fifteen minutes.
Here’s introducing my homestay family- Ron & Andrea, and their beautiful children- Joshua (8yrs old), Hannah (5yrs old), lil nicholas (1 yr 7mths old). They are really lovely people especially the little nicholas, though he’s a little playful at times, his contagious laughter totally dissipates all my tiredness away. When i played ‘five colours in her hair’ from my laptop, the 3 of them even danced to it in my room! Such a bunch of fun-loving kids! ((: It’ll be really nice to continue homestaying with them but i got to check out the bus journey from here to my university tomorrow first before making a decision.
Only went to the nearby Coles Supermarket to get some food to store at the cabinet simply because it was pouring, so the traffic jam will be pretty terrible if we were to get to the city. I am feeling rather tired now because i didn’t manage to sleep on the plane and i only caught 2 hours sleep in the afternoon just now. EYEBAGS!!! Guess tomorrow will be fun, because Andrea will show me around in Brisbane! (: Yip! I haven’t suspend my singapore line, so it’s ok to contact me through my mobile!
Right here… I really appreciate all who came to send me off at the airport yesterday. Thank you Andrew, Yiru, Chunfong, Hanwei, Yingpeng, Sijia, Sooeng,Weiquan, Sheralene, Shaun, Auntie Sheila, Munkeong, Kim, Samantha, Caroline, Wanxiu, Junxiang, Char, Daniel chongchong, Luis, Zicheng, Pinghwei, Miranda, Xiangjing, Boonhwee, Agnes, Kuanwee, Yihao, Alex, Aiksiang, Shenhui, Danny, Liwei, Veevien, Ziyuan, Keqi, Kinfai, Daddy and Mummy. And to those who called and sms-ed me, thank you for your blessings.
-didn’t take photos today, shall take it tomorrow!-
